Event Overview

The Kaas Plateau, also known as the Kaas Pathar or Kas Sadas, is a plateau situated 25 kilometres west of Satara city in Maharashtra, India. It falls under the Sahyadri Sub Cluster of the Western Ghats, and it became a part of a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in 2012.

It is a biodiversity hotspot known for various types of seasonal wild flowers bloom and numerous species of endemic butterflies annually in the months of August and September.The plateau is situated at an altitude of 1200 meters and is approximately 10 square kilometers in area. Kaas has more than 850 different species of flowering plants of which 624 are listed on the IUCN Red List These include orchids, shrubs such as the Karvy, and carnivorous plants such as Drosera Indica.

Event Details


Day 1 - Trip to the Plateau of Flowers - Kaas and Thoseghar Waterfall
  • 05:30 a.m. – Meet Team Organizer at S. P. College, Tilak Road Pune. (Previous Night)
  • 06.00 a.m. - Depart for Kaas by sharp 07.00 am.
  • Late comers will have to join us on the way or make their own arrangement to reach the starting point. No Arguments will be entertained for the same.
  • 07.15 a.m. - Morning Tea & Breakfast on the way.
  • 10.00 a.m. - Reach Kaas Plateau. & Explore the place.
  • 11.00 a.m. - Move out from Kaas for further Journey.
  • 12:00 Noon - Lunch at Local Dhaba / Hotel.
  • 01.00 p.m. - Move towards Thoseghar Waterfall.
  • 02.00 p.m. - Reach Thoseghar Waterfall. Enjoy the Scenic beauty of Thoseghar waterfall.
  • Walk of 10 Minutes required to reach the Point of Thoseghar Waterfall.
  • 03.00 p.m. - Start Journey towards Sajjangad.
  • 03.45 p.m. - Start Climbing Sajjangad by Steps.
  • (Around 30 Minutes Required).
  • Reach the Top. Explore for some time.
  • 05.00 p.m. - Start return Journey towards Pune.
  • Evening Tea on the way.
  • 09.00 p.m. - Reach SP College Tilak Road, Pune via the same route.

Things To Carry

  • Haversack – This is the most important thing you need.
  • Choose a sack which can sustain the weight throughout the trek.
  • In rainy season, (Make sure that you do not carry any Jholas, one-side bags etc.)
  • We prefer to use a big plastic bag inside the haversack. This helps us to keep the things dry.
  • At least 2 liters of water bottle.
  • It is really necessary to consume the carried water wisely.
  • (you may add Glucon D or energy powder to it)
  • Extra clothes as per the season.
  • Full sleeve clothes are preferred for treks.
  • (Towel, Rain coat, Sun cap, Thermal wears as reauired) *make sure you carry a plastic bag to keep used wet clothes.
  • Trekking shoes –
  • Shoes/floaters with good grip.
  • Action Trekking’ is Most preferred pair of shoes for Sahyadri region.
  • Bedding material – Sleeping bag / Carry mat / Blanket etc. (not applicable for one dayers)
  • Make sure that the bedding material is not bulky or heavy.
  • Torch with extra batteries
  • Avoid using your mobiles as torch as the mobile might be needed in an emergency. Hence, it is important to save on the mobile battery.
  • Plate, Mug, Spoon etc.
  • We prefer to carry our own plates etc to the forts. (Optional)
  • Personal medical kit
  • A set of medicines for any personal allergies, insect repellents or the medicines as per your doctor’s suggestion etc.

Terms & Conditions

No littering on the Trek, whatsoever. Participants are requested to carry the waste back to the city and dispose it off in dustbins
Carrying or consumption of Alcohol or Smoking is Strictly not allowed. Anyone found in possession of the same or consuming it will be expelled from the trek. No refund will be provided.
Safety First is our Moto & we do not compromise on the same. Participants must follow the instruction given by the Trek Leader/Volunteers for your own safety & the group’s safety.
Participants should not deface or damage any monument by writing or scribbling on them. Please help us to conserve and preserve our heritage along with our Trek Leads.
We strongly recommend not wearing/carrying any valuable jewelry. Participants will be responsible for their own safety and baggage.
Adventure activity is arranged considering normal weather.
There can be changes in the Event plans, itinerary according to the real-time situations.
In case of cancellation of any event due to reasons beyond control (like Natural calamities, riots, political uncertainty, public transport failure etc.), refund shall be payable with respect to the given to refund policy.
It is most essential to be fit and fine before heading for an event.
While planning your trip, it is preferable to have a medical fitness check up done.
If suffering from any kind of allergy or ailment, do carry proper prescribed medicines to prevent serious health problem including heatstroke, sever headache, cough, dehydration and hypothermia.
Participants suffering from chronic conditions like asthma, bronchitis, blood pressure, migraine, diabetes etc should seek their physicians advice before coming.
