Event Overview

Ratangad is a hill fort near Ratan Wadi, This time we are going to ascend Vai Sandhan Valley and this is going to be exciting .Overlooking one of the oldest artificial catchment areas. The fort is about 2000 years old. Ratangad has a natural rock peak with a cavity in it at the top which is called Nedhe or Eye of the Needle. Ratangad was captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosle and was one of his favorites. The base village Ratanwadi has an Amruteshwar temple which is famous for its carvings. The fort is origin for the river Pravara/Amrutvahini. The Bhandardara dam is built on this river.

Event Details


Day 1 - Trek To Ratangad : Trimbak Darvaja
  • Start Journey from CST towards Kasara by last local train by 00:10 am which reaches Kasara by 02:45 am. Further proceed to base village. Reach Samrad by 06:00 am. Freshen Up and have break-fast. After Introduction and briefing session, start ascending the Trimbak Darvaja. Reach at the top by 11:00 am. Explore the Cave and the Fort and enjoy the picturesque of the Ratangad “Nedha”. Have Lunch and start descending to Ratanwadi. En-route visit Amruteshwar Temple and proceed back to Kasara.

  • Good grip quality trekking shoes – Must (Please check soles of your shoes and get them stitched if necessary).
  • Personal Medication / First Aid kit
  • Toiletries (Napkin, facewash, tissue paper etc.).
  • Cap, goggles, sunscreen, moisturizer, mosquito repellent etc. (as per season)
  • Proper Backpack to carry all these things (No handbags, duffle bag or jholas)

  • Rainwear (Jacket / Ponchos ) or Winter wear (Jackets, warmers or sweaters) – (as per season).
  • Carry your own glass, bowl, spoon and plate (if necessary)
  • Extra Pair of Clothes (as per schedule)
  • Sleeping bag / mat / bedsheet (as per schedule)
  • Slippers (optional – at the end of day / trek so that your feet can relax).

Terms & Conditions

Alcohol and smoking is strictly disallowed on treks. If found, trekking under influence of drugs or drinks you’ll be barred from the trek. And our responsibility ceases with you.
Littering is strictly not allowed on treks. Do not leave empty plastic bottles, biscuit or chocolate wrappers behind. We have to carry our own garbage/leftovers back to the city.
Wear proper loose fitting clothes no jeans pants allowed. Try and wear full sleeve top and long bottoms or pants. Will spare you from mosquitoes, insect bites or thorny bushes (your choice).
Talk to the native villagers gently and give respect to them. Cause we are their guests.
Do not carry lots of cash, gold or any valuables. We are not responsible for the loss.
