Event Overview

Sudhagad is just approximately 10 kms from Pali village, where another fort Sarasgad is situated. Existence of this fort is since 2nd century BC. Thanale Caves and Khadsamble caves are also nearby. Fort was known as Bhorapgad after the presiding deity Bhorai Devi. Actual rulers were Bhor dynasty. Bhamani Sultanate captured it in 1436 and then Marathas in 1657 who named it to “Sudhagad”. Very large plateau on top with numerous lakes and ponds in rainy season. Places that can be visited on fort are Bhorai Devi Mandir, Pant Sachiv Wada, Chor Darwaja, Takmak Tok, Shiv Mandir. Places that can be seen around Tail Baila, Sarasgad, Korigad.

Schedule

Day 1 - Sudhagad Fort Trek
  • Early morning depart from Dadar by 06:30 am. Enroute pick up at Thane and have breakfast. Reach base village by 10-10:30 am. Have introduction and briefing session.
  • Start Trekking and reach at top within 02 hours. The entrance door of fort (MahaDarwaja) is as similar as MahaDarwaja at Raigad. Earlier, Shivaji Maharaj choose Sudhagad as the capital of Swarajya but later choose Raigad which has centralized location compared to Sudhagad.
  • Explore the fort and enjoy the information sharing session. Have lunch at top and start descending by 03:00 pm. Return journey to and late evening arrival at Mumbai.
  • Tour concludes with Happy Memories

  • Do not leave empty plastic bottles, biscuit or chocolate wrappers behind.
  • We have to carry our own garbage/leftovers back to the city.
  • Wear proper loose fitting clothes no jeans pants allowed.
  • Try and wear full sleeve top and long bottoms or pants. Will spare you from mosquitoes, insect bites or thorny bushes (your choice).
  • Talk to the native villagers gently and give respect to them. Cause we are their guests.
  • Do not carry lots of cash, gold or any valuables. We are not responsible for the loss.

  • Lunch / dinner as per schedule.
  • Water bottle (2 liters compulsory)
  • Electral powder / energy bars / dry snacks (dry fruits. Biscuits, plum cakes etc).
  • Good grip quality trekking shoes – must (please check soles of your shoes and get them stitched if necessary).
  • Personal medication / first aid kit
  • Toiletries (napkin, facewash, tissue paper etc.).
  • Cap, goggles, sunscreen, moisturizer, mosquito repellent etc. (as per season)
  • Proper backpack to carry all these things (no handbags, duffle bag or jholas)
  • Camera (optional)
  • Rainwear (jacket / ponchos ) or winter wear (jackets, warmers or sweaters) – (as per season).
  • Carry your own glass, bowl, spoon and plate (if necessary)
  • Extra pair of clothes (as per schedule)
  • Sleeping bag / mat / bedsheet (as per schedule)
  • Slippers (optional – at the end of day / trek so that your feet can relax).
