South Konkan Costal Tour
Konkan, Devgad, Malvan, Sindhudurg
2 Days1 Night
Event Overview
A coastal road leads south from Vijayadurg, passing through Devgad, renowned for producing India's sweetest mangoes, to Malvan. The old town runs the length of a crowded little street that leads to a port, from where boats can take you to Sivaji's coastal fort of Sindhudurg now deserted, which sits atop a low-lying island just off the coast. There are several shrines within the fort - to Maruti, Bhavani, Mahadeo and uniquely to Sivaji. There is an unconventional statue of Sivaji and two well-known temples to Sri Devi Sateri and Rameshwar. South of Malvan, a narrow road runs down to the peninsula of Tarkarli, where casuarina trees straggle along the back of a largely deserted beach. There are a few low-key resorts and guesthouses here, almost exclusively geared towards domestic tourists (signs are in Marathi only).
