Event Overview

Pench National Park, nestling in the lower southern reaches of the Satpuda hills is named after the Pench river, meandering through the park from north to south. It is located on the southern boundary of Madhya Pradesh, bordering Maharashtra, in the districts of Seoni and Chhindwara. Pench National Park, comprises 758 sq km, with a core area of 299 sq km of Indira Priyadarshini Pench National Park and the Mowgli Pench Sanctuary and the remaining 464 sq km of the Park is the buffer area. The tiger reserve has a glorious history. A description of its natural wealth and richness occurs in Ain-i-Akbari. Pench Tiger Reserve and its neighborhood is the original setting of Rudyard Kipling's most famous work, The Jungle Book.

The Pench National Park is located in Southern Madhya Pradesh in India, about 70 km from the city of Nagpur. Spread over an area of 275 km² 90% of area is in the neighboring state of Madhya Pradesh rest 10% in Maharashtra.The campsite is located near the entrance of the forest.

The Pench camp offers great sightings of Tigers and Bears. Nature trails, birding, treasure hunt are designed to give the participants an excellent Jungle experience.

Schedule

Day 1 - Reporting
  • Report at the main porch of Pune station at 1600 hrs. Depart by Garibrath (12113) to Nagpur at 1740 hrs.
  • Mumbai campers report at 1130 hrs at Mumbai CST main porch. Board Nagarcoil Exp (16339) heading to Pune.
Day 2 - Arrive at Nagpur
  • Arrive at Nagpur at 0925 hrs and proceed to Pench by SUV.
  • Orientation at the resort followed by Nature trail.

Things To Carry

  • One haversack and one small shoulder bag.
  • (NO TROLLEY BAG OR SUITCASE)
  • Comfortable clothes for the entire duration of the Camp. (Track Pants, T-Shirts, etc preferably in shades of Deep Blue, Green, Dun or any other camouflaging colors)
  • [Avoid Jeans]Suitable nightwear.
  • Personal Kit for toiletries, Towel.
  • Sport Shoes, Socks, Floaters, Sun cap/ Hat, 2 water bottles.
  • Sun Screen, Cold Cream, Odomos, etc.
  • NO DEODERENT.
  • Torch with fresh batteries.
  • Sun glasses, camera, binoculars, (optional at your own risk).
  • A bird book, field guide (if available).
  • Personal medicine, if any, with a note explaining doses, time, quantity etc. with the name of the child. No need to send any extra medicine.
  • Pen and a small diary. (Highly Recommended).
  • Around 3000/- for meals during travel and for shopping.
  • Please don’t send Mobile phone, music player etc. with the child.
  • An Original ID Card with a color copy is mandatory for Jungle Safaris. (School I-Card/ Adhaar Card/ Driving License etc).
