Event Overview

The fort is also known as Madhu Makarandgad as it is believed to be consisting of two different forts Madhu and Makarandgad respectively. The peak of the mountain known as Madhu Shikhar which is the main attraction point. There are temples of Bhairoba and Mallikarjun on the top of the hill. The top provides the views of Mahabaleshwar and Pratapgad on the North Eastern side and forts of Rasalgad, Sumargad and Mahipatgad on the eastern side. The fort is surrounded by the famous forest of Javli. The fort also provides view of backwaters of Koyna and Shivsagar dams. On the eastern side of the fort there is one water cistern in the cave.

Day 1 - Start from Fergusson College
  • 11.30pm Start from Common Meeting Point at Fergusson college main gate
  • 04.00am Night travel & reach Hatlot early morning and Rest.
Day 2 - Madhu Makrandgad Trek
  • 06.00am Morning wakeup call, Refreshments
  • 06.30am Have brekfast.
  • 07.30am With briefing and introduction, start ascending Makarandgad fort
  • 11.00 am Reach to the top of fort
  • 11.30 pm After exploration, start Descend down.
  • 01.00 pm Get down to where we started.
  • 02.30 pm Have lunch in the village
  • 03.30 pm Start return journey.
  • 08.00 pm Reach back to Pune.

Things To Carry

  • A postive mind set and a healthy body!
  • Luggage packed in big good trekking sack, all luggage packed in plastic bag.
  • Complete spare set of clothes & socks
  • Water bottle (atleast 1.5 ltr) compulsory
  • Electral/ Glucon-d energizers and personal medication
  • A sweater/warmwear/rainwear (as per the season)
  • Rubber soled sport shoes. (Converse, sandles, chappals, floaters not permitted)**
  • A sleeping bag / Thermocol mat and shawl / normal satranji and shawl: (only for overnight treks)
  • Torch with Extra pair of Batteries
  • Camera, Binocular (Optional)
