Kaziranga National Park
5 Days4 Nights
Event Overview
A World Heritage Site, the Kaziranga National Park hosts two-thirds of the world's Great One-horned Rhinoceroses. Kaziranga is recognized as an Important Bird Area by Birdlife International for conservation of avifaunal species. One of India's best-known tourism mascots, the famed one-horned rhinoceros calls the expansive grasslands of this national park its native place. The park's population of 1800-odd rhinos (just 200 in 1904) represents more than two-thirds of the world’s total.
High above the hazy valleys and foaming rivers, hidden in the rolling clouds and perched on an headland, lies Cherrapunji, 4,500 ft above the sea level. Cherrapunji, the wettest place in the world, is 56 km southwest of Shillong in the East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya. It is a spectacular location with the year-round rain. Long ago, Meghalaya had earned the coveted place in the Guinness Book of World for being the wettest place on the earth. This is one place all over the world, where the rainfall can be recorded in feet rather than in millimeters. The original name of Cherrapunji is Sohra.
