Har Ki Dun & Jaundhar Glacier Trek
Sankri, Uttarakhand
7 Days6 Nights
Event Overview
Har Ki Dun translates to “Valley of Gods” quite literally. There isn’t a better way to soak in the essence of Garhwal Himalayas, than to walk through this paradise called the Har Ki Dun. Mighty mountain slopes covered with greenery, ice-cold streams and little hamlets with wooden houses add character to the valley. Har Ki Dun is one of the most recommended treks for fit beginners who want to kick start their Himalayan trekking experience. The sight of Jaundhar Glacier in the end will make sure your efforts don’t go in vain. Trust nature and you’ll be generously rewarded with a picturesque panorama, exhilarating experience of trekking in the Garhwal Himalayas and camping memories of a lifetime!
Legend has it that the Pandavas walked this path to get to heaven! It is also said that the civilisation in this cradle-shaped valley is more than 3000 years old and still remains untouched. Har Ki Dun trek gives you a sneak peek into one of the ancient village settlements of Himalayas. The Jaundhar Bamak or glacier is a high altitude point in this trek which will take you past the 4000m mark!
Sankri is a beautiful village that marks the start of many local treks. Sirgi, another village that you can spot on your northwest has been built in a way to receive sunlight early in the day to maximise their harvest.
