Event Overview

The Chopta Chandrashila Trek takes us to one of the most breathtakingly beautiful part of the Garhwal Himalayas. We start from Haridwar, and pass through Deoriatal, Chopta and Tungnath to reach the summit of Chandrashila for a great view of the Indian Himalayas. Maximum altitude reached on the ChoptaTungnath trek would be around 4000m at the summit of Chandrashila. This region is a protected sanctuary for musk deer, and is rich in flora and fauna. Tungnath is famous for being the highest temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. On top of Chandrashila we will be able to see Chaukhamba, Kedarnath, Nandadevi and Trishul peaks.

Schedule

Day 1 - Drive from Haridwar to Chopta Uttarakhand
  • We depart from Haridwar in the morning for Chopta Uttarakhand. The drive is alongside The Ganges. Devprayag and Rudraprayag are two towns which are confluence of River Bhagirathi and Alaknanda, Alaknanda and Mandakini. Reach Chopta Uttarakhand and setup Chopta Camp. Overnight stay at Chopta Uttarakhand
Day 2 - Trek from Chopta to Chandrashila via Tungnath
  • We start early for Chandrashila trek from Chopta Uttarakhand. At Chopta we get to see the lofty peaks of greater Himalayas. Chopta, Chandrashila and Tungnath are the famous on Kedarnath route and Chandrashila trek is a famous trek for beginners. After trekking for about 4 hours you will reach Tungnath temple till where the proper trail is there and from Tungnath onwards there is no cemented trail. Chadrashila Peak is around 2 Kms from Tungnath temple and takes around 2 hours to reach. Return to Chopta camp by lunch time. Overnight stay in Chopta Camps.
