Combo Trip Kuari Pass & Ganga Rafting Expedition

Kuari Pass - Uttarakhand
9 Days8 Nights

Event Overview

The Kuari pass trek is amongst the best in the Garhwal Mountains. The trail takes you through lush green fields, remote villages and virgin forests. The close range view of Mt. Nanda Devi along with numerous other peaks is the reward that awaits the trekker atop the Kuari pass! Add to this the fact that this combo trip also offers an river expedition down the River Ganga as well. It too offers you some days of trekking first which will take us to our starting point for the rafting, following which we will raft downstream to get to our base destination- Rishikesh to get back home. This however is a longer expedition then the one offered at Chandershilla and will involve some tirring days of trkeking all the way from Rishikesh to Ghat to Chefna to Semkher Meadow, which conists of pasture lands for summer grazing and some shepherd huts. From here to Kalighat to Dhakauni. The trek becomes more interesting here as we then follow our way up to the spectacular Kuari Pass, from where we make our way to Auli and then finally to Joshimath. Most treks would end here with a drive from Joshimath to Rishikesh, but you instead will have the luck to raft downstream from Joshimath to first Devprayag and the following day from Devprayag to Rishikesh. There is just so much a trekker and a rafter can ask from a trip…and you get it all in one!

The Kuari Pass Trek found fame in the early 1900’s when intrepid adventurers and mountaineers such as Lord Curzon ,Eric Shipton and Bill Tilman used the passage in their pioneering explorations of the region. The Kuari Pass trek is known as The Curzon Trail (named after the former British Viceroy Of India “Lord Curzon”).

The views on the KuariPasstrek are often cited as the best in the Indian Himalayas. It is not hard to discover why. To the north of the Kuari Pass is the Chaukhamba Range, while the summits of Mana (7272m), Kamet (7756m) and Abl Gamin (7355m) extend to the Tibet border. In the middle foreground, a number of spectacular peaks including Dunagiri (7066m) and Changabang (6864m) enclose the Nanda Devi Sanctuary while to the west the snowcapped ranges extend to Gangotri.
