Itinerary Day 1 : Chandigarh - Narkanda (185 kms /6-7 hours approx)
We arrive at Chandigarh and head to Narkanda, a small hill station about 185 km away. Narkanda offers a spectacular view of snow-clad peaks, amidst beautiful apple orchards and dense forests. Narkanda is a small village, a perfect hill destination at 2700 Mtrs.

Day 2 : Narkanda - Kalpa (170 kms/-8 hours approx)
Morning visit to Hatu peak, 9 kms uphill from Narkanda at an altitude of 3400 Mtrs. Have a glimpse of 360 degrees view of snow clad Himalaya. We proceed towards Kalpa, the beautiful town in Kinnaur. The majestic mountains of the Kinner Kailash range and the Sutlej snaking through them accompany us on our journey. Narkanda to Kalpa takes 8 hours and is nestled at 2696 Mtr.

Day 3 : Kalpa - Local sightseeing
We spend the whole day at leisure in Kalpa. We can witness the first light of the morning painting the snow peaks a beautiful crimson. Here we can spend ample time among the mountains and witness the apple orchards in all their glory. We visit Van Vihar, an amazing walk amidst dense deodar forests and Kalpa town. In evening visit to Recong Peo market if time permits. One can indulge in shopping - traditional Kinnauri stuff, woolens and other locally handmade handicrafts.

Day 4 : Kalpa - Nako (115 Kms/4-5 hours approx)
We visit Nako, a small village in the Hangrang valley. Kalpa to Nako is a journey on old Hindustan Tibet highway, the most treacherous road in the world, yet so immaculately maintained by BRO. On the way we visit Khab, the confluence of Sutlej and Spiti rivers. At Nako we visit a beautiful local monastery, seated on the banks of a lake. We also visit the local market. In the evenings we will have some interactive sessions regarding Himalayan ecology and botany.

Day 5 : Nako - Kaza (176 Kms/3-4 hours approx )
Today, we enter Spiti Valley at Sumdoh and visit two most glorious structures, the Tabo and Dhankar monasteries. These monasteries, set in high mountains are a dream for photographers. Have a super time at the monasteries before and pass near the Pin valley.

Day 6 : Kaza - Local sightseeing
Driving along NH-22, past Khab confluence and Nako village, when you reach Kaza you already have a lot to be exuberant about. Travelling hundreds of kilometres on the desolate roads, where there are virtually no traces of human race, with great scenery all around is got to be fun. Today we visit first of all Kye monastery, a high seat of Buddhism in Himalayas, about 11 Kms from town, then further up to Kibber village at 4220 Mtrs. We now move to Langza, Komik and Hikim, the highest in world, round-the-year inhabited villages between 4300-4650 Mtrs. Back to Kaza. Visit local markets in Kaza if time permits.

Day 7 : Kaza - Manali (224 kms/8-10 hours approx)
After an early breakfast, we leave for Manali. We come across Kunzum pass, 4550 Mtrs, by noon. This pass divides the valleys of Spiti and Keylong on the other side. Soon we will be at Lake Chandertal, or lake of moon at 4250 Mtrs. Back to main road and down to Chhatru and Chhotadara, the tiny hamlets in the rocky terrain. We drive further to Gramphoo, from here an uphill zigzag drive to Rohtang pass at 3980 Mtrs. Now on, it is a downhill drive of 55 Kms to reach the hill destination of Manali at 1950 Mtrs.

Event Description

Spiti is a land of stunning natural beauty hidden somewhere between Tibet and India. This `Little Tibet’ is made up of dreamy landscapes so beautiful that mere words can do no justice! Spiti is a region with breathtakingly gorgeous high – altitude Himalayan lakes, tall mountains so stark and devoid of any vegetation that one would feel that they are on the moon and the air and people so pure that one would not want to leave this paradise! Some of India`s most isolated and important monasteries are located in Spiti. The monasteries and the monks all offer excellent photographic opportunities.

Nestled in the heart of Kinnaur district in Himachal Pradesh is a town called Kalpa, hardly heard of, untouched and pristine. Where the windows open to snow-capped peaks and valleys carpeted with Rhododendrons. As we travel through the towns, farther away from civilization, we uncover breathtakingly beautiful vistas en-route. Every town we stay at is a homely Himachali town, snuggled in the mountains, away from the hustle-bustle we all want to get away from. This tour promises a tranquil time in the mountains, in the company of virgin forests, and fresh mountain air.
