Event Description

Picture this: Striking highways of Ahmedabad, extensive patches of lush green fields on both the sides of road in Chandigarh and stunning roads crisscrossing through the great Himalayan and trans-Himalayan mountains! Mountains resembling some other planet, or maybe our very own moon! Their romantic grays and browns and pinks ( oh yeah! ) stabbed by the bolt from the blue - lakes! Sky so blue that would be baffled and the air so pure and crisp that one would be on a very special joy drive!

A tough yet highly enjoyable journey takes to the enchanting Ladakhi capital of Leh which is our base for the rest of the expedition. We drive to the famed Pangong Lake and camp besides the pristine blue waters, go swimming in the lake, light up a bonfire on the banks and just laze around looking at the stars! Pangong is a pretty sight! And at dawn, just as the sun makes its presence felt, the crystal clear waters are bathed in shades of orange and pink that no one, not even Picasso could conjure! Well, everything about Pangong would make you weak in the knees.

Yet another mini - drive takes us to the land of the Nubra valley - characterized by high - altitude deserts and snow peaks, by pretty little mountain villages and the friendliest people ever! Have a great two days!

We also explore the region around Leh, the monasteries being of special interest to us. We explore the gorgeous mountain monastery of Hemis and the spectacular Lamayuru monastery. The atmosphere inside a typical Buddhist monastery with the faint humming of the monks and the peacefulness of the sanctum sanctorum, the carvings and paintings depicting Buddha will all leave you spellbound!
