Tarkarli is amongst the premiere destinations promoted by M.T.D.C. Located in Sindhudurg district bordering Goa, Tarkarli is amongst the southern most beaches in Maharashtra. Part of the series of beaches in Malvan, Tarkarli is a small stretch of beach with Devbaug beach to its south and the Sindhudurg sea fort to its north. Tarkarli offers an ideal destination for a relaxed weekend away near the beach. Tarkarli is amongst the few destinations in Maharashtra where you can enjoy Snorkeling and S.C.U.B.A diving thanks to the clear waters and the coral reefs which spread over almost the entire coast near Tarkarli. Sindhudurg fort which spreads over 44 acres on the Kurte island to the north of Tarkarli in Malvan is another must visit during a Tarkarli Holiday.

2.Tsunami Island & Water Sports :
Tarkarli is emerging as the most sought after destination for water sports in Maharashtra. Tsunami island in the Karli backwaters is the hub of water sports near Tarkarli with all the major water rides including parasailing in the sea!Tsunami Island is in the back waters. It’s a small cute little island with clear waters. Its isolated and might be approximately just 20,000sq.ft in size. It was created overnight because of the Tsunami. Hence it is named as Tsunami Island.We Will Be doing all Water Sports Jet Ski,Banana Boat Ride,Kayaking,Bumper,Water Scooter.

3.Dolphin Ride :
The chances of spotting a dolphin is highest during boat rides from Tarkarli near the shores of Malvan .

4.Scuba Diving(Professsional With Cylinder ) :
The coast near Tarkarli is abundant with coral reefs and also is blessed with clear waters making Tarkarli a great site for SCUBA Diving. The vicinity of the Sindhudurg fort is the primary site for SCUBA Diving in Tarkarli. Tourists are ferried from Dandi beach to the diving site for SCUBA Diving and snorkeling.Tarkarli is amongst the very few places in the country where you could indulge in SCUBA diving. M.T.D.C identified the region near Sindhudurg fort abundant with coral reefs as the primary site for snorkeling and SCUBA Diving in Maharashtra.

5.Nivati Rock / Bhogawe Beach Sangam:
Nivati is an unexplored piece of land that springs a surprise at every turn you take. Nivati beach is a secluded cove with a beautiful stretch of white sand beach and a turquoise blue sea to complement it. The Nivati beach is without a doubt the main attraction in Nivati. The Nivati fort plays sentinal to this beautiful shoreline and makes a Nivati vacation an unforgetable experiance.

6.Sindhudurg Fort:
Sindhudurg fort stands on a rocky island, known as Kurte, barely a km, from the Malavan is 510kms south of Mumbai and 130kms north of Goa. Sindhudurg was built in 1664-67 AD by shivaji when all his attempts to take the island fort of Janjira proved futile. The construction was done under the supervision of Hiroji Indulkar, an able architect. Shivaji had invited 100 Portuguese experts from Goa for the construction of the fort. It is also recorded that 3000 workers were employed round the clock for three years to build Sindhudurg. It was the body from the Sack of Surat that went into the building of Sindhudurg. One of the best preserved forts of the Marathas, the 48 acre Sindhudurg fort has a four kms long zigzag line of 9 metres high and 3 metres wide rampart with 42 bastions. Apart from the huge stones, the building material involved 2000 khandis (72,576kgs)of iron erecting the massive curtain wall and bastions. A notable feature is that the foundation stones were laid down firmly in molten lead. The fort is approachable from the Malavan pier by a boat through a narrow navigable channel between two smaller islands of Dhontara and Padmagad.
